Q: What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, often abbreviated as 'BJJ' is a Martial Art the focuses on Submission Grappling. By using leverage & superior technique, the BJJ fighter is able to overcome stronger, larger opponents & defeat them. You will learn how to take an opponent to the floor, apply & escape submission holds as well as how to stop yourself from being taking down in a fight.
Q: Do you offer group and private classes?
We offer both types of classes based on your schedule and instructor availability. Contact an instructor to schedule personal training sessions.
Q: How many people are in a group class?
Classes will range between 10-30 people. Each Jiu Jitsu class is different & as more people fill up the class, we will have more BJJ instructors to help out.
Q: Will there be other beginners in my class?
There are beginners in every class as well as advanced trainees who have been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for years. Advanced members are always more than willing to help out new BJJ practitioners so don't be shy!
Q: How many classes per week should I attend?
Most of our members train 1-3 days per week. Some train even more. We offer classes 6 days a week so come as often as you would like based on your needs and availability. Be careful though, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is addicting!
Q: Do I need to ‘get in shape’ before I start you classes?
You do not need to be "in shape" in order to start Jiu Jitsu training. Our classes are designed to be done at your own pace. Our coaches help you through each BJJ session, inspiring you & training you to get better each time. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are perfect for the beginner yet intense enough for even the most advanced trainee.
Q: How long do the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes last?
Our BJJ classes last approximately 60 minutes. We often have open mat at the end of class as well, some members will stay and train for 2 hours!
